If you encounter an error message from FNB when trying to perform transactions: Error code: 99999 when trying to access your account, it may be due to tax-related issues or other reasons. The first step is to check your mobile app for any notifications regarding the issue.
Sorry! Your transaction was unsuccessful.
Error code: 99999
Reason: You cannot transact from this card/account as it is inactive or there are insufficient funds available in this account.
If it is tax-related, you will need your tax ID number and navigate to the online banking settings to locate the tax queries section. Here you can insert your number and click “add”.
However, please note that you may still need to contact the bank or visit a branch to resolve the issue, as my personal experience has shown that even after following these steps, the issue may still be pending and require multiple phone calls or a visit to the bank.
You might get different versions of the error; it all depends on the platform you have used to carry out the transaction.
On the mobile app you get a different error message and via desktop computer you get the above error.
On the Mobile you would see below error;
This transaction is not permitted on one of the specified accounts for queries call 087 575 0362.

Note: FNB South Africa bank will never contact you regarding this issue, and if you fail to reach out, your funds will be lost permanently.
