Avoid clicking on any links if you receive such a text message in above picture. It is becoming increasingly popular for scammers to target FNB. If you receive text messages claiming that your account is not updated or that you need to update your account, it is important to ignore them or contact the bank directly. Avoid clicking on any unknown links. Scammers may send you links pretending to be FNB in order to update your account, but clicking on those links could result in the loss of your savings. While you might expect the bank to send you an OTP (One-Time Password), these scammers can manipulate the OTP options so that you don’t receive any.
The text messages were sent to my real bank’s phone number, and I also have other phones. I am contemplating if the bank needs to monitor their staff more closely.
For example, I received a text from a fake FNB and immediately recognized that the real FNB would never use a URL shortener to send me messages. Curiosity got the better of me, so I clicked on the link to see how they operate. However, I quickly reported the URL to the hosting provider to protect others from falling victim to this scam.
The URL they used to clone the bank’s website looked completely fake and did not match the real FNB website. Unfortunately, many people fall prey to these scams because they don’t take the time to read and verify the information.
Remember, people suffer due to a lack of knowledge. It is important not to click on everything you see on the internet just because you are bored.
Having both an antivirus installed on your phone and PC is crucial to prevent potential nightmares and avoid significant losses.
It is important to be cautious and not pick calls from fake bank staff or respond to their SMS. In today’s world, people are becoming more desperate and fearless when it comes to making money.
