This ride type is available in 12 of our cities in South Africa and more.
The Women-Only Category will operate 24/7, every day of the week.
You can earn 1.2 times more operating in the Women Only ride type in comparison to the Base Category.

The safer ride type option, which operates after 6 pm, will disable the cash option. This means riders must upload their card details to use the ride type, making trips easily traceable.
You need to select the option to opt into the Women Only ride type so you can operate in it and start earning.
Any attempts to impersonate the driver will result in the account being blocked, especially in the Women Only ride type.
Remember, the aim is to ensure that women and children ride safely in this category.
Steps to follow if a male driver arrives at your pickup
We encourage you to cancel and report trips should a male rider show up to take the journey. Report via in-app when you cancel the trip.

Bolt is relatively straightforward when compared to numerous other driving applications that necessitate costly vehicles, and you often have to wait an entire day for your requested car to arrive. With Bolt, you can utilize a car manufactured from 2014 onwards, in contrast to Uber, which only accepts vehicles from 2021. The safety and quality of a car do not rely on its recency, but rather on the driver and the condition of the road.
1. Register online
Tell Bolt which city you’d like to drive in and the type of licence you have. You will receive an email with the next steps.
2. Upload your documents
The documents needed to drive on the Bolt platform can vary depending on your location.
3. Rent a vehicle

1. Operating Card (Double Disk)
You can get this document at the nearest traffic department.
How to obtain this document:
- Visit your nearest roadworthy centre or DEKRA
- They will give you an extra form that you submit to the licensing department
- This document is obtainable at any Licensing Department and takes between 1 and 3 days to receive
- This document indicates that it is a commercial vehicle used to transport people
- If you do your roadworthy and vehicle inspection at DEKRA, an overall discount will be imposed.

2. Vehicle certificate of registration
How to obtain this document
- This document is obtained when you purchase and register the vehicle in your name.
- If this is a financed vehicle, the bank may hold the original document (Ask for a copy from the bank)
Tips to load this document
- The year of first registration, as well as the vehicle’s license plate number, should be visible.
- The vehicle needs to be registered in your applicable province. Any documents provided by other provinces can not be accepted.
Registering as a Bolt Driver requires a valid South African driving license with a PrDP. You must be 21 years or older to hold a PrDP for a passenger car.

Accept a ride request
The Bolt Driver app will automatically find passengers for you. -
Pick up your passenger.
The app will guide you to your passenger’s location. Once there, please pick them up. -
Drive to their destination.
Follow the directions to your destination and swipe to end the ride when you arrive. -
Repeat to earn more money.
Keep driving and earning, or go offline — you’re always in complete control of your schedule.
