Registration for Uber Eats is like becoming a driver for Uber. You can apply online through the Uber Eats website, filling out some basic information about your car, licence and background.

Uber Eats is Uber’s food delivery service, which means you’ll be getting paid to deliver meals ordered on the app. It is like being a driver for Uber X, except that instead of picking up passengers, you’ll be delivering food.


To become an Uber Eats driver in South Africa, you will need to meet these requirements:


  • You must be at least 21 years old
  • Your car must meet UberEats requirements (see below)
  • You need a valid driver’s licence from any country (or permanent residence in South Africa) and proof of ownership or lease of your vehicle.
  • You must pass background checks

Here’s everything you need to know to complete your Uber Eats registration.


Step 1:

Download the Uber Driver App from your App Store or Google Play.

Step 2:

Sign in or Register.

To register you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a motorbike or car.

Tip: Sign up with your full name and surname as per your identification document.

Step 3:

Step 4:

Select the type of vehicle you will use to deliver:

Upload the required personal documents.

Step 6:


Safety screening

  • A clear safety screening is required to deliver with Uber Eats.

Step 7:


Upload your motorbike or car documents to add a vehicle to your profile.

Step 8:


Once uploaded, your documents will be reviewed and approved.

Your registration process is then complete and your account is set up.

Just remember! There may be delays in your activation. 

We are not always adding new couriers. So you may not immediately be activated once you have signed up. Always keep your contact details updated so that we can get in touch when there is a demand in your area.



Step 9:


An insulated delivery bag is required for Uber Eats deliveries.

You will receive a link to purchase a bag when your account is ready.


Just remember! Do not purchase a bag before receiving communication to do so.



Step 10:


After collecting your bag, your account will be completed within 24 to 48 hours.


You will then be ready to receive orders and start earning!
